Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) announced $44 million in Disaster Supplemental funding awards to five states that were impacted by storms and natural disasters in 2023 and 2024.
The EDA awards announced today are:
- Port of Whitman County (Pullman, Washington): $13.9 million for construction of a technology transfer and commercialization scaling facility at the Pullman Industrial Park, to support business expansion, job creation, and private investment.
- Redding, California: $7.9 million for business park utility construction to support the local manufacturing industry, create jobs, and foster private investment in the region.
- Table Mountain Rancheria (Friant, California): $7.9 million for construction of a new retail shopping center and related utilities to support job creation and private investment in the region.
- Pulaski County (Little Rock, Arkansas): $4.5 million for roadway infrastructure improvements at the Port of Little Rock to support the local shipping industry.
- Ridgewater College (Hutchinson, Minnesota): $4.2 million for renovations to create an Electrician’s Lab to support electrical workforce development and job creation.
- Renville County (Olivia, Minnesota): $3.2 million for roadway infrastructure improvements to support the local manufacturing industry.
- Collin County Community College District (McKinney, Texas): $2.5 million for a 7,400-square foot building expansion project to support the electrical workforce development program and create jobs in the region.
“The Economic Development Administration provides communities with the resources they need to rebuild their economies following storms and other natural disasters,” said Deputy Assistant Secretary and Chief Operating Officer Ben Page, performing the nonexclusive duties and functions of the Assistant Secretary. “The awards we are announcing today do just that, supporting critical infrastructure improvements, workforce development, and job creation in five states.”
The EDA Fiscal Year 2025 Disaster Supplemental Grant Program makes approximately $1.5 billion available to support economic recovery activities in areas that received major disaster declarations because of hurricanes, wildfires, severe storms and flooding, tornadoes, and other natural disasters occurring in calendar years 2023 and 2024.
