CFPB: Virtual Town Hall on Managing Money During the COVID-19 Pandemic with Pro Linebacker Brandon Copeland on October 27th

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (Bureau) Director Kathleen L. Kraninger and Brandon Copeland, pro linebacker and University of Pennsylvania Professor, will host a virtual town hall to discuss how people can better manage their money during tough times. The event, titled “Pressure Creates Diamonds: Money Management During Coronavirus,” will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020, from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. Eastern Time.

“I’m excited to be joining Brandon in a virtual town hall to discuss this timely topic. This is truly a unique opportunity for us to engage with consumers and answer questions that they may have,” said Director Kraninger. “Many Americans are facing serious financial challenges as a result of the pandemic, and staying informed, engaged, and proactive is the best way to weather the current storm. I hope that participants will take away good information, steps, and tools to help them plan and persevere despite financial challenges.”

The virtual town hall will feature discussions on managing and protecting your finances during difficult times, financial planning, and building savings. Director Kraninger and Mr. Copeland will also discuss free resources available to help people facing financial difficulties due to the pandemic, including information on mortgage forbearance, economic impact payments, and student loans.

“It has come to my attention that millions of Americans have not utilized or are not aware of the resources that can help them get through this pandemic financially,” said Mr. Copeland. “I am looking forward to sitting down with the Director of CFPB, Kathy Kraninger, to spotlight some steps that most Americans can take to help them through these unprecedented times.”

Following the town hall discussion, participants will have their finance questions answered by Director Kraninger and Mr. Copeland.
