Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $513,274 grant to the Village of Atkinson, Illinois, to make critical sewer infrastructure improvements needed to support the growth of manufacturing businesses in the region. This EDA grant, to be matched with $513,274 in local investment, is expected to create or retain 110 jobs and attract $42 million in private investment.
“Providing the infrastructure our businesses need to grow and thrive is a top priority for President Trump,” said U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Dr. John Fleming. “This EDA investment will extend the necessary sewer services needed to serve Atkinson’s local manufacturing industry and accommodate its future growth.”
This project will assist the Village with extending its existing sewer services to several businesses to spur future job growth and expansion. The enhanced infrastructure will attract new business starts, private investment, and serve as a hub of economic activity throughout the region.
