EDA: U.S. Department of Commerce Announces Americas Competitveness Exchange Colorado

Senior Officials from Across the Western Hemisphere and other Nations to Visit Colorado’s Innovative Solutions to Economic Recovery

Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA), in coordination with the International Trade Administration (ITA), U.S. Department of State, and the Organization of American States (OAS), announced that a high-level delegation of global and regional leaders will participate in the Americas Competitiveness Exchange (ACE) in Colorado, August 1-6, 2021. ACE is the premier economic development, innovation, and entrepreneurial network of the Americas and is one of the leading high–level initiatives of the OAS.

ACE brings together decision-makers from the Western Hemisphere and beyond to explore global and regional partnerships, as well as economic development opportunities to establish new global commercial relationships. Since 2014, twelve ACE events have been conducted in the United States, Mexico, Argentina, Canada, Germany, Israel, and Chile.

ACE Colorado will present exceptional opportunities for collaboration and long-lasting economic partnerships. The program will focus on economic planning and stability, tourism, business creation and development, bio-economy, smart cities, disaster preparedness and mitigation, and security innovation including cyber security.

The delegation will learn about successful models and sites in Denver, El Paso County, and Jefferson County in Colorado, showcasing innovative solutions to some of the world’s challenging health problems, disaster recovery and resiliency, new advancements in energy, innovations in sustainability, and the science behind the next generation of spacecraft.

“ACE has been instrumental in showcasing strategies to advance business development, trade, investment, and partnership opportunities in U.S. regions and has proven critical in establishing global commercial relationships that can support U.S. business objectives,” said Dennis Alvord, Acting Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development. “Colorado is leading the way in economic recovery, through innovation, industrial development, and strategic workforce initiatives. We look forward to showcasing the incredible work that the Department of Commerce and regional leaders are doing as we exchange knowledge and boost collaboration opportunities.”
