Under the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Noem, FEMA recently approved more than $62 million in funding to support recovery for past disasters in Missouri and Kansas for Public Assistance projects, which include debris removal, emergency protective measures and the repair or replacement of public infrastructure damaged by disasters.
This regional funding is part of a broader effort announced by the Department of Homeland Security. In this past week alone, DHS and FEMA approved more than $2.2 billion in Public Assistance projects for communities across the U.S.
Here are some FEMA grants recently approved across Missouri and Kansas:
- More than $19 million to the City of St. Louis for debris removal and emergency protective measures
- More than $3.5 million to the St. Louis Board of Education for debris removal and building repair
- More than $1 million to the Sikeston, Mo. Board of Municipal Utilities for permanent repairs
- More than $2.5 million to the City of Topeka, Kan. for permanent repairs to the Water Works Facility
- More than $1.5 million to the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities for permanent repairs
- More than $840,000 to the City of Garnett, Kan. for repairs to the Garnett Water Reservoir
FEMA will continue to review additional projects and obligate funds on a rolling basis as eligibility is confirmed and scopes of work are finalized.
