FEMA: Major Disaster Declaration for State of Maine

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of Maine to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by a severe storm and flooding from October 29 to November 1, 2017.

Federal funding is available to state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the severe storm and flooding in Cumberland, Franklin, Hancock, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Oxford, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Sagadahoc, Somerset, Waldo, and York counties.

Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.

James N. Russo has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area. Russo said additional designations may be made at a later date if warranted by the results of damage assessments.
