FEMA announced today that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of Louisiana to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by flooding from May 10 through July 24, 2019.
FEMA’s Public Assistance funding is available to the state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency and permanent work including the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by flooding in Assumption, Caldwell, Catahoula, Concordia, East Carroll, Franklin, Iberville, Ouachita, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, St. Martin, Terrebonne, and West Feliciana parishes.
Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation statewide.
John E. Long has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area. Long said additional designations may be made at a later date if warranted by the results of further damage assessments.
