The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of Vermont to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storm and flooding from May 4 to May 5, 2018.
Federal funding is available to the state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the severe winter storm and flooding in Chittenden, Grand Isle, Lamoille, Orange, and Orleans counties.
Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures throughout the state.
James N. Russo has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area. Russo said additional designations may be made at a later date if warranted by the results of further damage assessments.
