Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $1 million grant to the city of Guymon, Oklahoma, to expand and improve the wastewater system at its industrial park.
This investment will support the expansion of existing businesses and attract others to the city’s industrial park. The EDA investment will be matched with $2.6 million in local funds, is expected to create 60 jobs, and generate $100 million in private investment.
“President Biden is committed to supporting communities across the country as they work to Build a Better America,” said Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo. “This EDA investment in the city of Guymon will support new and existing business growth, creating a more diverse, robust regional economy.”
“The Economic Development Administration supports locally-driven, strategic economic investments,” said Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Alejandra Y. Castillo. “This project will provide critical infrastructure to support business development, bringing good-paying jobs to the community.”
“I am glad to see these strategic economic developments invested in Guymon, Oklahoma,” said Governor Kevin Stitt. “We are thankful for the EDA’s investment, which will be met with local funds, resulting in more jobs and economic expansion in western Oklahoma.”

This project was made possible by the regional planning efforts led by the Oklahoma Economic Development Authority (OEDA). EDA funds OEDA to bring together the public and private sectors to create an economic development roadmap to strengthen the regional economy, support private capital investment and create jobs.
