Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $2.2 million grant to the Sheridan Economic and Educational Development Authority for construction that will accommodate the expansion plans of a local manufacturing business. According to grantee estimates, the project is expected to create 50 new jobs and spur $1.1 million in private investment.
“The policies of the Trump Administration have created a new resurgence of American manufacturers,” said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. “Through this project, Sheridan’s innovative advanced manufacturing industry will continue to grow and create new jobs for the community.”
This project is funded under the 2018 Assistance to Coal Communities (ACC 2108) program, through which EDA will award funds on a competitive basis to assist communities severely impacted by the declining use of coal through activities and programs that support economic diversification, job creation, capital investment, workforce development, and re-employment opportunities.
