EDA: $2.9 Million in CARES Act Recovery Assistance Invested to Increase Capacity Manufacturing Growth in Dickeyville, WI

Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $2.9 million CARES Act Recovery Assistance grant to the Village of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, to support the construction of the Village’s new industrial park. This EDA grant, to be matched with $716,957 in local investment, is expected to create or retain nearly 100 jobs and generate $17.4 million in private investment.

“EDA is committed to helping communities across the nation implement strategies to mitigate economic hardships brought on by the coronavirus pandemic,” said Dennis Alvord, Acting Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development. “This EDA investment will allow Dickeyville to establish new industrial space to support its growing agricultural and machine equipment manufacturing sectors.”

“The health and economic crises caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has hit every corner of Wisconsin,” said Congressman Ron Kind (WI-03). “Last year, Congress came together to pass the CARES Act so that we could give businesses, working families, and health care providers the support they need during these challenging times. I’m thrilled that the CARES Act is continuing to help support our local economies, alleviate the economic impact of COVID-19, and help create new jobs in Dickeyville.”

This project will provide water, stormwater, roadway, and other infrastructure needed to build out Dickeyville’s new 22.75-acre industrial park.

This project is funded under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act (Public Law 116-136 PDF), which provided EDA with $1.5 billion for economic assistance programs to help communities prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus. EDA CARES Act Recovery Assistance, which is being administered under the authority of the bureau’s flexible Economic Adjustment Assistance (EAA) (PDF) program, provides a wide-range of financial assistance to eligible communities and regions as they respond to and recover from the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.
