Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $3.4 million grant to the Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation, Kincheloe, Michigan, to build a manufacturing facility at Chippewa County Air/Industrial Park and expand an existing railroad spur to serve the facility. The EDA grant will be matched with $842,310 in local funds.
“President Trump is working diligently every day to support this country’s manufacturing industry so we can facilitate job creation and success,” said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. “The improved Chippewa County Air/Industrial Park will address the Eastern Upper Peninsula’s need for additional manufacturing space for new and existing businesses to grow.”
“Our critical manufacturing sector has expanded considerably since President Trump came to office,” said Dana Gartzke, Performing the Delegated Duties of the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development. “EDA is pleased to support Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation’s strategy to expand Michigan’s manufacturing capacity and strengthen the region’s economy.”
