FEMA: President Trump Approves Major Disaster Declaration for California

FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of California to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe winter storms, flooding, landslides and mudslides from Feb. 13 – Feb.15, 2019.

Federal funding is available to the state and eligible local governments, and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis, for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by severe winter storms, flooding, landslides and mudslides in Calaveras, Colusa, Marin, Mariposa, Mendocino, Modoc, Napa, Riverside, Santa Barbara, Shasta and Trinity counties.
Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.

Benigno Bern Ruiz has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area. Ruiz said additional designations may be made at a later date if warranted by the results of further damage assessments.
