FEMA: President Trump Approves Major Disaster Declaration for Mississippi

WASHINGTON – The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of Mississippi to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storms, flooding and tornado from Dec. 27-28, 2018.

Federal funding is available to the state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by severe storms, flooding and tornado in Clarke, Covington, Forrest, Greene, Jasper, Jones, Marion, Newton, Perry, and Wayne counties.

Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.

Jon K. Huss has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area. Huss said additional designations may be made at a later date if warranted by the results of further damage assessments.
