The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of West Virginia to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storms, flooding, landslides and mudslides from February 14 to February 20, 2018.
Federal funding is available to the state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by severe storms, flooding, landslides and mudslides in Brooke, Cabell, Calhoun, Doddridge, Hancock, Harrison, Lincoln, Logan, Marshall, Mason, Monongalia, Ohio, Pleasants, Preston, Ritchie, Taylor, Tyler, Wayne, Wetzel, Wirt, and Wood counties.
Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.
Steven S. Ward has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area. Ward said additional designations may be made at a later date if warranted by the results of further damage assessments.
