Notice of Funding Opportunity available for eligible entities to hire a program coordinator who links residents with training opportunities, job placement organizations, and local employers
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced today that $40 million in funding is available through the Resident Opportunity and Self-Sufficiency (ROSS) Service Coordinator Program for Public Housing Agencies (PHAs), Tribes/Tribally Designated Housing Entities (TDHEs), Multi-Family Owners, resident associations, and nonprofit organizations. The ROSS Service Coordinator Program provides funding to hire and maintain Service Coordinators who will assess the needs of Public and Indian housing residents, provide case management, and coordinate available resources in the community to meet those needs.
This place-based program targets the entire resident community and aims to address needs at both the community and individual level. The ROSS Service Coordinator works with public and private partners to develop local strategies to address the needs of residents and remove barriers so that residents make progress towards achieving economic and housing self-sufficiency, or, in the case of elderly or disabled residents, help improve living conditions and enable residents to age-in-place.
“Service coordinators play a critical role in helping people in HUD-assisted housing navigate everyday challenges and reach long-term stability,” said Secretary Marcia L. Fudge.“This funding opportunity will ensure more individuals and families can access local tools and resources that meet them at their point of need.”
This notice also extends eligibility by allowing PHAs or Multifamily Owners to continue to serve (or restart service to) residents of a project with assistance converted from public housing to Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) Project-based Voucher (PBV) or RAD Project-based Rental Assistance (PBRA).
